WHY AM I RUNNING?
I am a single mother with three children – one who graduated from Eden Prairie High School and two who are currently in the district. I understand more than anyone else that the importance of having someone on the School Board who understands the struggles that communities of color face, their needs, their education goals, and their cultural values. I will be that person for the many students and families in Eden Prairie who struggle like my kids and I do every school year.
Aside from being a parent of the district for so long, I also have over 15 years of experience of working with teachers, students, and parents. I have been in the classrooms and have seen how disparity and the gap are forms as early as kindergarten. The lack of cultural responsive trainings and budget cuts in the most needed areas such as special education and ELL programs.
This past Summer I was honored attending few different sessions of community engagement hosted by the police and the city in order to bring in ways to build community coalitions.
If I am elected
My goal is to change the narrative that our school policies are decided by a few which means not everyone gets a voice at the table. It is important to have different perspectives from parents whose kids are currently at the district on our school board. I believe the school board members should be diverse so that all voices are heard on the table..
I have studied IT and computer information system at Hennepin Technical College and I am currently completing my undergrad in Elementary Education. I vast experiences for working with the community as an outreach and empowering parents to
I had always challenged myself in helping my community regardless of all faith and backgrounds because I am passionate about giving back and serving the community.
I am a confident, hardworking, and dedicated community leader and if I have the chance to serve the school board seat, I will make sure to bring new perspectives and voices to the table which will make our district not only stronger but also inclusive.
